Circulation Policy

Most materials in the collection can be loaned for presentations, research purposes, and hands-on inspiration. With the exception of a few fragile or rare materials, all items in our collection are circulating.

Students, faculty, and staff at The University of Texas at Austin are welcome to check out material samples with a UT EID.

The loan period is one week, and a maximum of 30 materials can be checked out at a time.

Renewals

To renew an item for an additional week, you may:

1.  Bring your materials back to the circulation desk

2.  Send an email requesting a renewal to: materialslab@austin.utexas.edu; include your name and EID

3.  Call the Materials Lab at 512 232 5969

Damaged and missing materials

The borrower will be held liable for any replacement costs associated with damage, loss or theft of the material. The replacement charge of a damaged or lost material represents the cost to the Materials Lab to re-purchase and re-process a replacement of the same material where applicable.

If materials samples are overdue by more than one month, they will be considered Missing/Lost and the patron’s borrowing privileges will be suspended until the overdue materials are replaced or returned. If a patron has repeatedly overdue materials, indefinite suspension of borrowing privileges will occur.
