Teaching Assistant

Elisabeth Altazan is a second year dual degree student in the Master in Public Affairs program at the LBJ School and the Community and Regional Planning program at the UT School of Architecture. She currently works as the Grants Coordinator TA for the Center for Sustainable Development.

Before coming to graduate school, Altazan worked for several non-profits and then managed a Healthy Communities initiative for Louisiana State University. In this role, she worked with several rural and under-resourced communities in LA and saw first-hand the massive impacts policies and planning decisions have on bettering or worsening social and economic disparities.

Altazan's primary reserach interest is the intersection of housing policy and community development, and food systems. During her studies, Altazan has interned for both the City of Austin Transportation Department and the Neighborhood Housing and Community Development Department, and plans to work in local government after completing her Masters' degrees.
