To remain eligible for the scholarship, you must be registered as a full-time student in good academic standing in the School of Architecture for the duration of the award period. Any deviation from this may result in the cancellation of your scholarship.

BEFORE YOU BEGIN: Read our thank-you letter guidelines and our Scholarship FAQ

1. Scholarship agreement

UTSOA Continuing Student awards: Accept your scholarship online through the scholarship system.

Recruitment or external awards managed by UTSOA: Complete the Scholarship Acceptance Form linked in your award letter.

2. Thank-you letters

Most scholarship recipients will be required to write a thank-you letter to EACH individual listed for your award(s). You may use the same basic text for multiple letters to donors, but make sure to appropriately personalize each letter. Use proper business letter format. See our Scholarship FAQ for questions, you may submit a rough draft of your letter to the Graduate Admissions and Scholarship Coordinator

Please submit your thank-you letters to UTSOA with the following materials:

  1. Original copy of your signed thank-you letter(s)
  2. Stamped envelope(s) addressed to the letter recipient(s). Include your student return address on the top left corner of the envelope. Please do not seal the envelope addressed to the recipient.

You may deliver your letter(s) to the Graduate Office in SUT 2.130 or mail them to:

Graduate Admissions and Scholarship Coordinator
310 Inner Campus Drive Stop B7500
Austin, TX 78712-1009

DO NOT mail the letter(s) directly to the letter recipient(s). The Graduate Admissions and Scholarship Coordinator will make copies of the letters for endowment compliance records and then mail them to the recipient(s) on your behalf.

Scholarship funds will not be released until you have completed both of these requirements. UTSOA scholarships are released in two equal payments after the 12th class day of the fall and spring semesters unless noted otherwise. This means that your UTSOA scholarship funds may be released after the tuition payment deadline. If you would like to avoid paying the toal amount of your tuition bill before your scholarship funds are released, please refer to the Tuition Installment Plan Instructions. Please review the Scholarship Disbursement section on the Scholarship FAQ for more information on how awards are processed.
